How to Improve Your Health While at Work

Stand at work

Get moving

  • If you have meetings scheduled with just a few coworkers, take a walking meeting instead of sitting down for coffee and a muffin.
  • If you are doing work that requires you to sit and concentrate for long periods of time, set a timer on your phone every hour and take a quick walk around your office to allow yourself a mental break.
  • Skip the elevator and take the stairs instead. Doing this, even if it is just the few times you come and go from your office in a day, can have a big impact on your health. The first week may be hard as you huff and puff up flights of stairs. But soon you will find that making it up and down is so much easier.

Increase your font size

Chances are pretty good that you spend a lot of time reading and working at your computer or smartphone. Take a second to increase the font size on these devices. You will find that your eyes won’t become tired as quickly when they aren’t having to work so hard to read that small print.

Watch your snacking

It can be so easy to head to the break room and grab a cookie that is leftover from a meeting or snag something sugary from a vending machine. But your body will thank you for sticking to healthier snacks and drinking plenty of water. Healthy snacks help you maintain balanced blood sugar levels which may help you avoid that 3:00 slump we are all so familiar with.
