Mornings can be hectic for all of us. Whether you are an early riser, always running late, or feel like you have it together, we can all use some tips to get our morning routine to work for us. The goal here is to get you to your standing desk feeling ready to tackle the day. Take a look at a few ways you can get your morning to work for you.
Avoid the snooze button
This is the most important way to simplify your morning routine. If you are hitting that snooze button, you are almost guaranteed to have a hectic morning. Set your alarm for a reasonable time and consider placing it across the room so that you’re forced to get out of bed to turn it off.
Prep your breakfast the night before
Eating breakfast is an essential part of your morning, and you don’t want to wait until you’re at your standup desk to realize you skipped the most important meal of the day. Go ahead and cut up some fruit to put in your yogurt or make some overnight oats, and fill your coffee pot with coffee grounds and water. Set out your reusable water bottle and travel coffee mug to take to work to stay hydrated and caffeinated at your stand up desk.
Lay out your clothes the night before
When you work at an adjustable height desk, you may need two pairs of shoes; one pair that you can wear into work and one pair that you can wear while using your standing workstation that will keep your feet comfortable. Laying out your entire outfit, including shoes, jewelry, and bag, will free up a lot of your time and mental energy each morning.
Turn your phone off while getting ready
This may be a tough one for most people, but your smartphone can be a huge time suck in the mornings, or any time of day. Whether you get email notifications while you are trying to eat breakfast or you find yourself checking social media accounts instead of getting dressed, save your phone time for later in the morning. Turn your phone off until you are on the train for work or at your standing desk in the office. Your mind will be clear and ready to focus on anything that comes up.
Put on a morning music playlist
Music can drastically affect your mood. The right music can get you moving and in a good state of mind in the mornings. Take some time over the weekend to make some playlists that you know will get your mornings started right. While you’re at it, make some playlists to listen to while working at your adjustable height desk, too.
